4 Liverpool Exhibitions To See This Weekend!

Words: Olivia Walker

Want to make the most of your weekend? Sometimes an injection of culture is exactly what’s needed! Here are four of our favourite exhibitions, taking place around the city this weekend.

  1. Astronomy Photographer of the Year – World Museum, William Brown Street, L3 8EN

This exhibition has been getting glowing reviews, and for good reason. Upon entering the subtly lit exhibition space, you’ll find row upon row of astounding photographs. Whether it’s the surface of the sun, the Northern Lights, or far away galaxies, it’s hard not to be impressed by our own sky.

  1. Real Work – FACT, Wood Street L1 4DQ

For something a bit more unusual, you can’t go wrong with FACT. Their latest exhibition, Real Work, highlights the jobs that we don’t often hear about, through large scale video installations. While you’re there, you should also take a moment to examine the floor to ceiling mural in the building’s entrance. It’s full of hints and nods to FACT’s current programme, as well as being an impressive work of art in its own right.

  1. Keith Haring – Tate Liverpool, Royal Albert Dock, L3 4BB

The first major UK exhibition of work by artist and activist Keith Haring. Made up of over 85 pieces of his vibrant, almost playful art work, the exhibition highlights Haring’s art as a response to what he saw as the urgent issues of his generation. You may, or may not, be surprised at how many of those issues are still relevant today.

  1. Liverpool Art Fair – Metquarter, L1 6DA

We may be biased, but with just over one week to go, Liverpool Art Fair is well worth a visit. You’ll find our walls covered in art by some of the best artists the North West has to offer. And the best bit is, if you do fall in love with a piece of art work, you have the opportunity to take it home with you!
